I'll start off with a question. What is the point of gang exp and gang levels? Shut up Ozy, there are none. It's time for change.

1. Gang levels and gang upgrades
The idea is to somehow tie gang upgrades and gang levels together. Still allow gangs to purchase upgrades just as they do now, but add in for every x gang levels, the gang gets x gang upgrades. And not some low number, make the gang upgrades useful, or the idea will be pointless.

2. Max members
Allow gangs to only have 15-20 members maximum. This eliminates everyone just hopping in one gang to receive benefits. Also requires some strategy into who you allow into your gang.

3.Gang leveling incentives
Every x amount of levels, each member gains x amount of stats. I was thinking something along the lines of every 1000 levels. Not sure how much the gain should be in stats, but it needs to be enough that people care. And before I hear Ozy will just keep everyone dead and gain stats for his gang, keep in mind that allows Twidget to gain ground on #1...

4. Gang wars
Just like the Net Guards vs Hackers, add in an all out gang competition each week. The gang that gains the most levels each week receives x amount of gang upgrades/money/ECs/whatever is seen as a fitting reward for such.

I like them all, gangs these days i see as pointless. This is something that would give a more hacking spirit and activity into the game also making gangs mean something not just being a group of players hanging around.

Nothing i disagree on but on the 4. If it only was an increase of the rewards in the gang wars we have now it would be better.

With levels there would be more hacking in higher ranks = more activity
With kills there would just be mass hacking of low levels = boring

Unfortunately, people plain old wont like being killed that much. All that being put in, you should only be allowed to kill someone 2 or 3 times an hour max, unless you're in a direct gang war with them. I say this because despite the fact that it is, indeed, a war game, being dead or everyone being dead puts people off.
Hmm. Or, 2 kills against any one person per hour, and auto heals every 20 minutes? That'd balance it out. More even opporunities for gang levelling, personal levelling and also means that people can get in their hacks...

Also, how big a stat boost would require the gang to get 1,000 levels? At 100% exp tax all the time, that could take weeks just for one, for most gangs. I'm thinking 100 would be more appropriate, and bigger gang war rewards would be nice. (500 energy spent getting 100 kills != .2 IQ for each member)

1,000 gang levels may be too high. I haven't played this game in a while so I haven't really paid attention to that type of stuff. The main goal for these boosts though is not to have them be IQ boosts. Those don't matter to most of those playing, and lets face it, there are currently no new players coming in.

I'd agree with leveling incentives being every 100

I like a lot of this ....

But I would suggest a smaller payout for a lower leveling mark ... say 40 to 80 stat-points per 5 gang levels? Or maybe just make it a small bonus every time the gang levels, like 12 statpoints per level or something. 1000 levels is too high a target. Even with 100% tax it would take far longer than just weeks to gain that many. DD hasn't even broken 1000 yet and we've been at this for more than half the year now.

Or if the idea or continual, visible results every time one of your smaller players sees "your gang has gained a level. all members have gained a stat boost" don't seem like the kind of incentive that would generate quick results, then maybe make it 100 or 200 statpoints every 25 or 50 levels. A number that would take work, but might encourage some of the smaller, lower level gangs to gain a few levels.

And do gains still level up on the same 'every 1500 exp' format they were before?

Also, if a 15-20 member cap is put on gangs, the time limit on gang wars will have to be increased. 72 is enough hours for BIG gangs, but when it's down to 15 members or so, you have to have a member on at pretty much all times, killing all the members you can every hour, and then maybe if you didn't miss some, you can finish a 500 point war.
