Possibly a bug in the 'max damage' coding, which restricted you from overkills. Have you tried attacking someone who does less than full damage on you? And if so, does the FW shown for you say the same as this or have the bonus?

if i have 5223 fw he should do 5223 to kill me, but he doesn't need to since i'm dead after a 4975 strike

to rusty, it's the same when i'm hit multiple times
