The diff in Bus between your and the attackers give a multiplacation factor on your HD.

BUS also helps on your daily hacks

I think there is someone working on updating the tutorial.. he just hasn't finished yet.
The best stat to pump depends on your build and your current goals... try different combinations and see how it works out.

I've done a lot of research in this, and it cost me a lot of time (like a whole evening ), so I'm not willing to give away everything

However, I'll tell you for free the formula and you can make your own mind up:
(HD*BUS)/eBUS-eRAM= damage done to opponent
Where HD=your Hard Drive, BUS=your bus speed, eBUS and eRAM=enemy's bus and ram.
There's a random multiplier in there somewhere but I don't know it.
CPU has another equation, but I don't know what it is so I always say you can make it whatever you feel like (eg low if you want to pump it in the other stats for one big hit and high if you want to do a million 1 hits before they do one).
Edit: Oh, and as noted, BUS also adds on to your daily hack %

I had come to most of those conclusions in the early part of my research too. The next step was the one that took the whole evening though But you've got a lot there, although don't say it too loudly or others will find out and steal all your hard thinking work XD

i'm beginning to think that the formula is different. I have high BUS/HD and they are equal and yet i only do 1 dmg most of the time now

this cannot be correct. if it was, HD would be just as much of a "multiplier" BUS as BUS is of HD. and BUS has defensive values AND helps hacking? i dont think so. i thin that in that equation, but eBUS and BUS are divided by 10 or something of the sort, or else BUS would pretty much be the only skill you needed.
